ECM Publishers, Inc. operates a non-heat-set web newspaper printing facility in Princeton, Minnesota. With 61 press units and 3 press lines, ECM has the most non-heat single-width commercial capability in the upper Midwest. In addition to printing 51 ECM owned weekly publications, ECM also produces work commercially for a number of high-profile publishers including the Midwest daily edition of The New York Times. Overall, ECM produces a wide variety of publications and freestanding inserts for hundreds of commercial customers ranging from magazine-sized work to tabloid and broadsheet work.
Services include, full 4-color capability, state of the art electronic pre-press featuring PDF workflow, digital proofing, and computer-to-plate technology. Customers may choose a Stochastic screening process or the more traditional AM screening process. ECM is one of only a handful of printers in the USA offering Stochastic screening on newsprint. ECM has complete post press including saddle-stitch bindery, machine inserting, and full mailing capability featuring ink-jet addressing.

After 11 years in the distribution side of our business Steve has worked the last 18 years in the print side of ECM’s business, now providing printing services to many of those same publishers he worked with in distribution.

Jim is currently in his 18th year with the company as Plant Operations Manager of the web newspaper printing facility located in Princeton Minnesota. He has guided the plant through five major expansions. During his tenure, the plant has grown from one 10 unit press to 3 press lines, 61 units, and is today the largest single width non-heat web printing facility in the upper Midwest.
